We will employ an iterative, delegated and collaborative process for authoring this book.
Authors will be expected to submit co-ordinated contributions that include patterns supported by cases..
These will undergo initial selection by section editors, with the oversight of the book editors.
All contributions accepted will be published on the companion site in their initial form, and authors will be expected to update all future versions there.
Authors will be expected to review and reference peer contributions.
Section editors will act as "shepherds", providing authors with continuous support in their writing and development of the patterns and supporting cases.

May 20th 2009	Companion website goes live, including: an expanded overview, based on the proposal with the section synopsi call for contributions details of the review process details of the open collaborative authoring process guidelines for authors (refer details in Sense book contract e.g. author's need to ensure they have copyright clearance on images they might provide) - here we should also provide example formats for the patterns and cases
May 25	Call distributed to relevant mailing lists. Authors will be asked to submit coordinated contributions of design patterns and supporting cases.
July 31	Call for submissions deadline Guidelines for section editors released to help in the "shepherding" process
August 2009	Summer break
September 2009	Reviewing process.
Oct 15	Responses to authors, accepted draft contributions go live on the book web site
March 22 2010	Section and book editors lead a process of "shepherding" (for lack of better word), whereby authors are guided in multiple iterations of refining their text. Particular attention will be given to cross-cutting coherence, in terms of style and content consistency, and cross links within and between sections.
June 8	Initial draft of scenarios and section overview goes live on companion website.
June 28	End of shepherding process, freeze of cases, patterns and scenarios.
July 22	End of section editing, freeze of overview.
September 15	End of book editing, introduction, forward and conclusion chapters live on companion website.
September 30 2010	Typeset manuscript handed to Sense publishers, including all text, images, bibliography, copyright release forms.
